The team at Exeno, the e-commerce pioneer in cryptocurrency payment adoption, are big crypto enthusiasts and always keep tabs on the industry. In this post, we’re going to cover the topics that made the global headlines in July.
Steve Wozniak called Bitcoin ‘an amazing mathematical miracle’
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak asserted his support of Bitcoin at the Talent Land Jalisco 2021 technology conference. He described the currency as ‘an amazing mathematical miracle’. Wozniak even declared Bitcoin was better than gold, since the latter is limited and requires resource-consuming pursuit.
The prominent entrepreneur has been a Bitcoin proponent for a long time: in his 2018 interview with CNBC, Wozniak shared his hopes for Bitcoin to become the ‘single global currency.’ He expressed his fascination with the technology underlying the coin, especially the fact it requires no central human running and is able to grow ‘naturally’.
His confidence in crypto led to the foundation of Efforce, a blockchain-based company with a mission to help businesses cut down energy expenses by reducing energy consumption, without harming efficiency. Efforce even launched its own cryptocurrency named WOZX, in honour of its founder.
The US city of Jackson, Tennessee plans to adopt Bitcoin as a property tax payment method
On 16 July 2021, the mayor of Jackson, Scott Conger, announced a study on the mechanism needed to accept property tax payments in Bitcoin. A special task force was formed to investigate convenient methods of adopting Bitcoin not only to accept tax payments but also to pay the city employees’ salaries.
Conger sees embracing property tax payments in Bitcoin as a solution to issues resulting from inflation and devaluation of the US dollar. He also mentioned that the city is considering accepting other cryptocurrencies, like Ether (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC), as payment.
The mayor is not alone in his enthusiasm regarding cryptocurrency adoption. The move follows the lead of his fellow cryptocurrency devotee, Miami’s Francis Suarez, who’s promoting the idea of tax and salary payments in Bitcoin in his city.
Just like us, the two mayors believe that paying with crypto may be highly profitable and convenient, as it’s less prone to inflation. The significant benefits of crypto payments are made evident by the Exeno store, a place where you can purchase goods directly with cryptocurrency without FIAT conversion, and with low a 1.8 per cent fixed commission.
